Q: Why is there an organization for women?
A: Now that more women are joing the fire service, we need to have resources for uniforms, gear, mentoring, and peer support. We are creating an organization that can benefit all firefighters in these areas.
Q: Is the NSWFA open only to current firefighters?
A: No. Current and retired firefighters, along with those interested in joining the fire service are welcome to join. Administrative staff within a fire department is also welcome to join. Each person can bring a different outlook to our group.
Q: Can men join the NSWFA?
A: Yes. Men and women are encouraged to join the organization. Everyone can benefit from each others knowledge.
Q: Can I submit items to the NSWFA website?
A: Yes. Please send any articles, pictures, job postings, etc. that you would like to see on our site to
kim.hanlon@nswfa.org.
Q: Is the NSWFA looking for additional board members?
A: Yes. We would like to have board representation from across the state. This will be one of the issues discussed at the September 9th Kick-Off Event.
Q: Where can I order clothing with the NSWFA logo on it?
A: Please click on ??????. This form can be faxed or mailed, along with payment, to MA Apparel. They will mail your order directly to you. We will also have items for sale at conferences that we attend as an organization.
Q. Are there message boards for the NSWFA?
A: Yes - go to
http://www.nswfa.org/forums. There is one board for all users to view, and there is another board for members only.
